From 2002 till early 2007 our team was known as Spade Ltd. While at Spade, we built and refined our process libraries in assignments for:

NZ Post (Project office, RUP implementations),

Telecom NZ next generation network (Program office, 160 projects)

Statistics NZ (CMMI & ITIL improvement projects)

A range of small development companies who required shorter delivery timeframes and improved maintainable quality.

In August 2006 we decided to commercialise our process libraries (methodology, templates, guides, standards), built and refined over the years as part of our assignments. Our processes are based on industry standards, with our value-add being the interpretation and tailoring to keep it mean and lean. The result is a scaleable set of processes which meet standards like CMMI, ISO, IEEE, PMBOK, OGC program management, and integrate with ITIL, and which are as free of bureaucracy as possible.

In addition through our SmartMatix Technologies company we created ScopeTracker, a low-cost, bi-directional, requirements management and traceability tool, which is simple to use and non-invasive. Such a tool is sorely needed by anyone wanting to achieve CMMI level 2, time and cost benefits. Bi-directional traceability is a CMMI level 2 practice which is essential to manage changes, deliver quality and long-term maintainability, while significantly reducing time and cost variations versus estimates / forecasts.

SmartMatix Ltd started trading in February 2007 and serves to market and support the process libraries and tools, and provide consulting expertise as described elsewhere on this site.
