Our Privacy Policy

This statement serves to demonstrate our commitment to protecting your privacy.

Personal information

SmartMatix only uses your contact information for the purpose you provided it to us. For example, if you provided your contact details for a support call, then it will not be used for the mailing list. In addition, by default, communication opt‑in settings are set to “off”. Thus, you have to explicitly tell us if you want to be on our general mailing list, and of course you can email us to opt‑out again. Of course, SmartMatix does not on-sell, or in any other way, distribute any of your contact details you may have provided to us, to others.

Credit card information

SmartMatix does not record or hold in any way, shape, or form, any of your credit card details. In order not to have to store any of your credit card details, we use PayPal only, and rely on their security systems for the protection of your card information.

Payment information

We use the WordPress Easy Digital Download store and rely on their software’s security measures to protect your privacy regarding email- and physical-address information and related details.

Security

SmartMatix relies on the security as provided by our LiquidWeb WordPress container provider. LiquidWeb has provided us with outstanding service with no outages, nor security incidents, since we moved to them in 2008.  LiquidWeb takes care of our server’s internet security in the broadest sense. In addition, we use a range of WordPress security components such as iThemes Security, Akismet Anti-Spam, and WP 2FA - Two-factor authentication.

Cookies

Revoke consent

A cookie is a small data file issued by the webservices which your browser writes to your hard drive when you visit the site. The only personal information a cookie can contain is information you supplied though the dialogue you initiated.

Cookies are used by the webserver-software to track the “state” of your dialogue with the webserver. Cookies are used for example for login sessions, the shopping cart, helpdesk, etc. The server also uses cookies to help ensure surveys are only completed once.

Our site is built on WordPress, WP plug-in providers, Google Analytics, and MailChimp.

Google Analytics helps us with marketing (essential to stay in business) and helps us figure out which content is most / least used, to help us improve the content. Google Analytics is a two-edged sword as it also helps Google to track and target your interests.

To counter third party cookie tracking as best as we can, we use the WordPress Cookie Notice plug-in which gives you the option to refuse 3rd party cookies. In addition, we have selected WP plug-ins specifically for their compliance with GDPR (right to forget). For example, the GDPR requirement has steered us to using the SEOpress component which is claimed to be GDPR ready.  Our EDD store is GDPR ready. This is our best attempt to comply with the EU GDPR, cookie law and CCPA regulations.

If you wish to curtail third party cooky tracking, an additional step is to use the Firefox browser, as this browser by default blocks third party cookies. If you wish to go extreme, you can minimize or stop tracking, by using an Anonymizer proxy service or Virtual Private Network provider. As always, “free” proxy services will have the risk that your browsing leaks to 3rd parties via the proxy-server’s backdoor.

Finally, if you don’t want to be tracked, unfortunately the best option for you is not to use this site.

Some of our products enable you to store your data / materials on our webservers. Our software security is such that only you have access to your data. Our website uses a multi-purpose feedback form to enable you to request information, lodge support tickets, provide feedback, etc. Our software collects your contact information and unique identifiers for the purposes of fulfilling orders, tracking feedback and support progress status, etc. None of this information is ever divulged outside our company walls.
